MEDICAL SUPPORT
The mission of the Carter School nursing team (medical support team) is to promote the health and safety of students and staff. This health promotion initiative begins with providing family centered services that fosters communication and collaboration. Two full-time nurses provide the following services:
- Health care liaisons to the family, school, and community agencies
- Case management and referrals within the medical community
- Monitor daily health care needs (i.e. seizures, illness)
- Dispense medications
- Deliver highly skilled nursing care including:
Chest PT, Suctioning, Gastrostomy Care and Tube Feedings, Tracheostomy Care, Emergency Medical Care - Provide health education to family and staff for the purpose of enhancement of the care and management of the child with complex medical needs in the school setting.
