UNIVERSITY COLLABORATION
Carter School welcomes affiliations with student interns from local colleges and universities. We have relationships with the following schools:
-
* Northeastern University Nursing Program sends three different teams of student nurses throughout the school year to observe, and administer procedures under the supervision of an on-site clinical coordinator and the Carter School nurses. We believe that educating future nurses about our students needs, especially when they are hospitalized, will serve to enhance the quality of care for our students receive.
- * Northeastern University Physical Therapy students complete a semester of clinical observation and supervise hands-on for one hour per week.
- * We encourage residents from Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center to send their doctors to observe our students.
- * Simmons College Special Education students assist in a one-day per week semester field placement experience.
- * Boston College Nursing Program sends a graduate student nurse for a one-day per week affiliation for a project launch and completion.
- * Boston College has also place graduate students in Severe Special Needs at Carter School for their practicum experience.
- * Boston University School of Electrical Engineering provides a team to develop and build a product that is not commercially available to assist Carter students in their learning activities.
- * Berkley College of Music has Music Therapy interns complete a semester of weekly music therapy sessions with the Carter Music Therapy providers as their practicum advisors.
- * Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts has most recently collaborated with Carter School to create a photo gallery, video, and website portraying Carter School students and their learning experiences.
